Sodium bicarbonate, molecular formula NaHCO₃, is an inorganic compound, white powder or fine crystals, odorless, salty taste, soluble in water, slightly soluble in ethanol (a said insoluble), aqueous solution is slightly alkaline. Decompose easily by heat, decompose slowly in moist air, produce carbon dioxide, decompose at about 50℃, decompose completely when heated to 270℃. When it meets acid, it decomposes strongly and produces carbon dioxide. Sodium bicarbonate is widely used in chemical industry, medicine, food, light industry, textile and other industrial fields, as well as people's daily life, occupies an important position in the national economy.
